Tommy
"I had been looking for a dog for my parents for a long time. We always had dogs growing up, but they hadn’t had one for quite a while, because they worried it might be too much for my Mum, who is not in the best of health. But my Dad is fit as a fiddle, and goes for long walks every day, and he wanted a furry friend to take with him. And they both had so much love to give, so we started looking on Wagtails. They rejected several dogs, because they thought they might be too big, too much of a handful, too young etc, and I had almost given up when Jay sent me the link to Tom.
I showed it to Mum and Dad, and they said YES! That’s the one! They had to think carefully, because Tom lived nearly 2 hours away, and that’s a long journey for them, but they made the journey one Sunday morning, and fell in love with Tom the moment they saw him. Tom had not been badly treated, but his family was very busy, with a working Mum and two children, and they were shortly to move to smaller accommodation so were unable to take care of Tommy any longer. Tommy had had to be caged for much of the day so that his owners could go out to work, but now Tommy only goes in his cage to travel, the rest of the time he HAS to be on someone’s lap receiving cuddles!
Tommy will not let you stop tickling him, he will put a loving paw on your arm and remind you what your duties are! He even sleeps on Mum and Dad’s bed! They always said they wouldn’t even have a dog in the bedroom, but they absolutely adore him, he has become their substitute grandchild (they won’t be getting any of those from my sister or me!).
Tommy likes to play cards, but is a bad loser! He is an Arsenal fan...
...but most importantly, he is the most loving, adorable little doggy in the world! They say he’s a Cairn/Border terrier cross, but we think he’s a Cairn/Cuddly toy come to life! So that’s our little Tommy. He has totally transformed the whole family’s life and brought so much love.
