Our dogs

Junior

Age: 2 years
Breed: Rottweiler (cross)
Gender: Male

Junior is a big, energetic boy and would ideally be placed with someone who is well-experienced with large working breeds. He is generally good with other dogs, cats and dog-savvy people (no small children as he can be food/toy possessive). Junior has been neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and is looking for a home that can give him the exercise and stimulation he needs.

Junior's current owner has kindly provided plenty of details about this lovely boy. These can be found below.

Personal Profile
I’m a gorgeous young man, 2 years old now, and I am a big dog. People ask me what I am, and they keep guessing, but truth be told I don’t know. I’m just a dog. My Mummy thinks I’ve got Rottweiler in me, but what else is a mystery. Maybe some German Shepherd. Or Mastiff. Or Akita. I don’t think it matters, really. I’m a big boy!

I love my family, but the problem is that they are lazy. They haven’t got half my energy and would prefer it if I was one of them couch potatoes like my big brother Morgan. But you see, I love to work! So here I am now, looking for someone to give me a job.

I’m a highly energetic, hard-working dog, and I love people, dogs and cats. At least the ones that belong to my pack or that my Mummy says are good ones. I can be a bit of a bully around weak people, so I can’t live with little kids, sick people or people who are insecure around dogs. I am also quite defensive if someone is threatening me or my family. Also, I don’t like it when strangers try to take my food or toys from me. I need a Boss who is experienced and has worked with Rottweiler type breeds before. I’m hoping to find someone who wants a working dog as a companion and give me a proper job to do.

Education
My Mummy rescued me when I was a four-week-old, sick and starving little puppy. She hand fed me, first with a syringe and later on with a spoon until I could eat on my own. Then she started to teach me how to be a dog. And my big brother helped. Sometimes...

I learned how to come back when she wants me to, how to sit, lie down, give her my paw and other things that seem to make her happy. I love to learn new things and I would do anything for a snack and a cuddle. She also taught me how to carry things in my mouth and to help with shopping using my backpacker to carry the groceries home. I’m also very good at picking things up from the bucket of water my Mummy keeps dropping things in.

We’ve started to teach me how to clean the house. Mummy wants me to pick things up and carry them out, but she has no sense of style and she doesn’t understand anything about home decoration. I try to help her by picking things up in the garden and carrying them inside, but she insists it should be the other way around. She’s a bit of a dimwit, really.

Work Experience
My main responsibilities include keeping the garden free from stray cats, foxes, birds and anything else that doesn’t belong to my family. I look after the house and make sure that no one enters unless Mummy has said they should be allowed in. I carry the food home when we’ve been shopping and I make sure people get up in the morning by licking their face or jumping on them if I have to. I also keep Mummy company when she studies and I see to it that my brother doesn’t get fat what with him lying around resting most of the time. I pounce on him and make him chase me, or I nick his toys and run off with them so he has to go searching for them. I actively exercise my prey-drive by getting rid of the pesky rodents creeping around in the garden. I sometimes leave them as presents for Mummy, but she doesn’t eat them. I’m telling you, the woman has poor taste!

Health & Safety
I’ve been neutered and chipped and I am up to date with my jabs. I need worming tablets and flea treatment on a regular basis. My lower jaw is a little too short, but I have no problems with that. And my Mummy thinks it makes me look cute.

I don’t like the vet much (as they insist on wrestling me down and putting things up my bum whenever I go there) so I have to wear a muzzle when I go to the vets.

Hobbies & Interests
I love carrying and chewing things. Running after things and bringing them back, especially if we can have a tug-o-war with them. Playing with water is also fun! I like to stick my head in the water bowl and blow bubbles through my nose. And I love to lay on my back getting a good belly rub.

Salary Expectation
You are looking at a monthly salary of £20-40 including my food, the odd toy, vet checks and things like that. I will work hard and be your loyal mate and companion for some good food and a nice bed.
